Hallmark of Jóvenes de Salud



Jóvenes de Salud combines the Cesar Chavez curriculum on social justice, which encompasses community involvement and promotes a sense of advocacy, with the rigorous standards of the youth apprenticeship system of connecting academics with youth leadership through community service projects.  Students may earn a graduating credit for their participation.
 
 
Community service activities include:

* Community-Based Organizations
* Corporate presentations

* Social media

Mentoring 
"Teach them well and let them lead the way"
 
Youth leading youth is the premise behind Jovenes de Salud after school program.  Peer-to-peer mentoring led by program alumni and mentors from all sectors of life.
 

The program provides an enriching culturally specific environment that educates and engages families and youth. Building school and team spirit to address health and wellness, fitness, nutrition, bullying and domestic challenges; building leadership through community service.  The program has highlighted health issues of diabetes, physical activity, HIV/STD's, and breast cancer.

 

 

Jóvenes de Salud has developed after-school chapters in Henry Sibley HS, Simley HS, South St. Paul HS, Coon Rapids High School and Austin High School in Austin, MN.
